Football Fanatic
I discovered the beauty and wonder of futebol back in freshman college. And throughout the years I have nurtured this appreciation of 'the beautiful game'. Lately though my love for the sport has reached newer heights as I have met officemates who share my passion for the game. Finally I had people to talk to about the game and finally I had people to play with. More than anything it is our weekly soccer sundays that has brought this love of futebol to the fore.
This past month I have done two things that signal how much I love this game of futebol.
1) I applied for tickets for next year's World Cup in Germany. Experiencing the World Cup live is a personal dream/goal of mine. One that I am sure is shared by millions of football fans around the world. I have applied for tickets for myself and two others to see Brazil's group matches. Tickets will be handed out by lottery so there is still a chance (a great one actually) that I might not get tickets. Plus there's the small matter of financial resources that are needed to get me and my friends to Germany and to sustain us during out stay there. But those worries are for another day. Right now I've taken one step closer to fulfilling a dream. And just the thought of it leaves me giddy...
2) Being that futebol is not an American sport (they even call it soccer for chrissakes!), basic cable companies here in the states dont really show futebol matches except for the odd CL match or so that they show on ESPN2. This simply will not do. No way will it satiate my weekly appetite for futebol! Hence I was left with no choice but to subscribe to the premium cable package that Comcast provided. My monthly cable bill suddenly went from $0 to $50 a month. But hey, if you're a fanatic thats a small price to pay I guess. Now I have access to two dedicated futebol channels that let me watch all my favorite EPL, La Liga and Serie A teams play each week. And more.
