On overseas assignments....

One of the cons of being assigned overseas is being away from your family. Especially hard for me is not being there for my little brother Pao during his formative years. This morning (late night in Manila) Pao sent me an instant message asking for help with his media project, which was to create a sleeve for a CD case. For some reason, he was having a hard time getting the size of his image to fit the dimensions of a CD sleeve. To add to his dilemma Adobe was acting up and was giving him all sorts of funky errors. I tried to help him out the best I could. But I wasnt an Adobe expert and I didnt have a copy of Adobe in my laptop so the help I could give him was limited to 'try this, try that'. I couldnt help thinking that if I was back home with him I could have helped him much more. Had I been there physically with him to I would have been able to help him have an easier time with his homework.

Its times like these that make this job so hard...
